Built to Rally: The Alpha Concrete Cortina Takes on the Roger Albert Clark Rally
There are some cars that just look right on a rally stage.
The Alpha Concrete Ford Cortina, car #183, is definitely one of them.
Classic shape, unmistakable livery and being driven exactly as a competition car should be, the Cortina recently took on one of the toughest and most iconic historic rallying challenges in Britain: the Roger Albert Clark Rally.
And we’re particularly proud that throughout it all, the crew were sitting in Motordrive seats.
Proper old-school rallying
The Roger Albert Clark Rally is a serious test of both car and crew.
Long days, forest stages, unpredictable British weather and conditions that can change dramatically throughout the event make simply reaching the finish an achievement.
For the Alpha Concrete Cortina, that meant everything from fast gravel and frozen forest roads to snow-covered stages.
Exactly the sort of environment these cars were built for.
Looking through the photographs from the event, it’s difficult not to love it.
A classic Ford, spotlights fitted, mudflaps hanging off the back and two people strapped into their Motordrive seats heading into a freezing forest.
No massive screens. No driver aids. Just car, crew and stage.
Built for days like these
Motorsport seats aren’t there simply to look the part.
On an event like the Roger Albert Clark Rally, the crew can spend long periods strapped into the car, tackling stage after stage in incredibly demanding conditions.
Support, fit, comfort and safety all matter.
That’s why it’s great for us to see Motordrive seats being used exactly where they belong: in competition.
It’s one thing to photograph a motorsport seat in a workshop. It’s another to see one fitted to a rally car being thrown through forests, over gravel and across snow-covered stages.

At Motordrive, we’ve always had a huge appreciation for cars like this.
Modern motorsport continues to push technology forward, but there’s something special about historic competition cars still being prepared, driven hard and used for exactly the purpose they were built for.

From the forests to the finish
After everything the event could throw at them, the Alpha Concrete Cortina made it all the way to that all-important finish banner.
The photos tell the story brilliantly: gravel, frost, snow, darkness and plenty of dirt along the way.
For us, there’s also something pretty satisfying about knowing that behind the classic bodywork, the crew were relying on Motordrive seats throughout the journey.
